Tax advice in forming church/ministry?

Posted by admin on February 6th, 2010 and filed under church ministry | 2 Comments »

I’m an ordained minister of a mainline denom. After 10 yrs, I want to go out on my own, but with a twist.

Through a contact, we want to offer companies access to a chaplain on an as need basis as an employee benefit. He already offers benefit and incentive programs through his company.

The question is, can I form a church that enjoys a legit tax-exempt status, offer my services to my friend’s company (and his clients) as a ministry of that church, have the CHURCH charge for the ministry much like many churches do for conferences and such, and then have the church pay me a salary as an employee where I can have a portion of that salary designated as housing allowance (non-taxed). The church would then also pay any travel expenses, reducing my taxable income even more.

Pls only serious answers. I’m just trying to take advantage of the LAW. I don’t want to skirt it.

BTW, I do have ppl wanting me to start a church. I would minister to them as well.

as a fellow minister I understand the plight of credability, and I will give you this advice.
contact a good church 501c3 organazation there are programs that will help you with this problem.
also see a good cpa.
get second and third opinions
main offices of your denomination should help you
with this.
God bless you !

How, as a Christian (or any other main stream religion) can you make your job a ministry?

Posted by admin on February 6th, 2010 and filed under christian ministry | 11 Comments »

If you get paid for work outside the church, that is. If you come in contact with Christians and non-Christians (or non-believers of your religion). This was brought up in a men’s Bible study recently

The best thing to do is live the life. Let God’s love show through your everyday life. When you screw up ask for forgiveness from those you hurt even if they don’t believe they will forgive (if they want to). Be humble, and live everyday as if it was your last. When they ask about what’s different with you just explain don’t preach and walk away so they can let it sink in. God bless

How can I get over and cope with the fact that my Music minister at my church HATES MY GUTS?! He’s gorgeous!

Posted by admin on February 6th, 2010 and filed under ministry music | 8 Comments »

See, I’m part of a huge adult choir where over HALF of the female psalmists (singers) are madly in love with this minister. Now, I admit that I was part of his little "harem", so to speak; however, I do indeed date and have crushes on a fellow Psalmist, the bassist and a Deacon! EVERYBODY has a very good rapport with the minister, but when I sent him a few e-mails and one e-card that I thought was cute, he informed me that he wanted things to be totally professional between us and to direct any and all questions, comments and complaints to my Choir Liasion and/or Music Administrator. I honestly didn’t mean any harm; I’m afraid to go anywhere near him now. Leaving the Music ministry and/or the church is NOT an option; I take my membership into both very seriously and plan to remain a member for life. I would just like any and all opinions and feedback from my fellow Yahoo neighbors, especially people who are, like myself, a part of a church choir. Thank you for your time and help. Luv U

I’ve seen this happen over and over again. I usually try not to date within an organization such as this one. It’s like mixing business with pleasure. I understand the ministers position and I think he did the right thing. Also I think what you did was natural because a lot of us have dated are liked somebody within the organization they we affiliated with. So don’t feel bad or be afraid him because of his response. I’ll say email him once more to apologize and keep it a business like relationship from now on!
Don’t forget to pray for him understand you and that the situation isn’t blown out of proportion. Everything should be fine!

Will Ministry of Sound speakers fit in my Fiat Punto 02 Plate Car?

Posted by admin on February 6th, 2010 and filed under ministry | 1 Comment »

I have just had speakers for my car.
They’re ministry of Sound one pair of 6X9" three ways speakers and one pair of 6.5" two way speakers.

I have a Fiat Punto 02 Plate model, and was wondering would they fit properly? The back ones shouldn’t have a problem but the front ones? Thanks!
Also, i can imagine them looking strange in the front i can’t picture how they’d fit. Thanks though they should be good.

Google speaker size for your car.

If it’s 6.5 then they should fit fine. If they are smaller, then you can create adapters (or buy them) so they can fit.

What were the ‘ministries’ in Orwells 1984?

Posted by admin on February 6th, 2010 and filed under ministries | 2 Comments »

I remember there being 4 ministries in the book and they had abbreviated forms to be used in newspeak. Something like the ministry of Truth became Minitrue or something like that.

What were the ministries and what were their abbreviated forms?

It had been a long time since I had read that book myself (actually in 1984) however I was able to find what you were looking for on Wikipedia. This is the link to the article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nineteen_Eighty-Four#ministries_of_Oceania

Good Luck!!!
