We have a music ministry and the last 3 years God has called us out of a church that we were in for 28 years. We know this is what God wants because he has opened the doors everywhere for us. We have not lifted a finger. So we know this is the Lord. Now, people have been asking us for cd’s and we have none. We would like to get one recorded soon.
Get some money from your ‘donations’ which seems more to me like ‘demandings’ and rent out a studio. "God’s" not gonna pour a recordio studio and a producer out of the sky.
Wow, I’m always so honest to you Catholics and Christians. Oh goodie, I’m not "sinning". =|
There are several scenarios. you are inside a burning house, and your neighbor runs in and saves you life, you survive, he dies of oxygen deprivision and severr burns three days later. You are drowning in some white water rapids, someone jumps in and saves you, but drowns himself.
What made me think of this were the lyrics of "The Ministry of Lost Souls" by a band called Dream Theater. It is kind of hard to imagine, what would you think?
I would feel glad they saved me but I think I would also feel guilty that they didn’t make it. There was a couple in my state, in their 20’s, that recently had tried to cross a rain swollen creek. The vehicle washed down the creek. The husband was able to get out, then saw his wife hadn’t so he went back to try save her, which he did, but before he could get out again, he ended getting washed away and drowned. So sad! When I read that I wondered how that made her feel. I think it would be hard to deal with.
Imagine this scenario. You’ve been transported back to the late 1800’s. You’re dressed in modern day attire, armed with only a giant boom box, a load of batteries and a couple of CD’s. What band or album would you play that would send the good folk running for hills, thinking you might be the Antichrist?
Ministry – Filth Pig – not their greatest piece of work by any stretch but it had virtually the same effect in 1996.
Skinny Puppy – VIVIsectVI
mustang_girlie – Great call. You bust out the Too Fast For Love album, I can guarantee that would work with the song Piece of Your Action blasting.
Us as One – Slayer, yes!
Tesla Girl – I said scare the good folk, not drive them to contemplate ending the human race in order to prevent future generations from suffering the scourge of emo.
the buffster – Good point, a giant loud boom box in and of itself would be damn intimidating. The music could well just be icing on the cake. And we already know everyone in R&P loves cake.
The Trooper – Glad you mentioned NIN. I wanted to, but it’s becoming very predictable on my part.
Steve B – That’s true, they were quite the jittery bunch to begin with.
BikiniQueen – I really dig Within Temptation, nice!
Jake Rulez d00d™ – Thanks, Jake!
guardgirl94 – Some of those bands might have me running for the hills and where I live things are flat. Guess I’ll have a long jog.
Yertle the Turtle. – Of course, we could send along Britney in the time machine and that would work too. Crazy people are very scary.
Prof – Hey, buddy! Glad you realized you’ll always be the Prof. Yes, the Broken EP is perfect. I’m actually in the mood to hear it right now, even without the pitchfork.
GK Dub – They might end up liking The Beatles. Manson would more than do the trick.
mrbernstein – LOL, now I’m terrified, HELP!!!!
jennifer a – I forgot there was once a time you could understand what Ozzy was saying. Sharon and their ugly kids could also shock them.
MachPen*´`*•.¸¸ – ROFL!! Now that’s a concert event I’d like to attend. And you know the beard is way hot.
hedZy – Thanks, hedZy. Looks like our CD collection will be well stocked, let’s hope we don’t run out of batteries anytime soon.
rckets, I think that just having a boom box would do it! But instead of thinking along today’s terms of what would be shocking, I think that I’d stay with the "futuristic" theme of the boom box and play "Autobahn" by Kraftwerk. It’s musical enough to have the 1800’s folk relate that it IS music, but electronic so that the sounds heard would be thought of as other-worldly. I’d be afraid that with no context to some of the harder sounds, they might think that other offerings would just be babbling prattle and not have the desired effect.
I used to listen to, hell, fall aslep to, Slayer, Megadeth, Ministry, old Metallica. I love Slipknot. What bands are out there these days to compare to that? All this alternative/emo stuff sucks. Are there still bands like that out there? Any reccomendations would be appreciated.
