Is the purpose of Christian ministry simply to preach about Heaven and Hell?

Is the only purpose of ministry in the Christian religion to preach about salvation?

The idea of a "ministry" is that you are providing a service to someone in need.

The greatest service we can provide to anyone is to help them learn how to be saved.

Other service, however, may involve offering encouragement to those who need it, as well as giving guidance to help Christians stay on the right path, and warnings to those who have left or are in danger of leaving the service of God altogether.

In any case, the purpose of preaching should be to see what those hearing need the most and to provide it. Many times such preaching also is accompanied with other forms of service.

The Bible says we should speak "the truth in love"! (Eph. 4:15) If either truth or love is missing, our message is incomplete!

How can I get a 501c3 status for a Christian ministry in Pakistan so Americans can donate confidently?

I am in America and am trying to help a friend with a Christian ministry in Pakistan. Is there any way to get a 5013c non-profit status on a ministry that is out of the US? Or is the best thing to do just to try to get the status for myself on a ministry that I want to start and just transfer the funds to them?
Thanks but I just wanted to know if it is even possible first

Look up i1023.pdf online and go to page 5 "Foreign Organizations in General." The 1023 is the form to apply for tax exempt status in the U.S. and you should read this first before considering anything.

A quote from there says "Contributions by U.S. residents to foreign organizations generally are not deductible. Tax treaties between the U.S. and certain foreign countries provide specific limited exceptions."

Annual returns for foreign organizations that obtains a public charity status should be filed with the IRS. Form 990 or 990 E-Z or 990-PF if a private foundation.

The i1023.pdf is very informative. Please read for more information.

how do I advertise for anybody who would like to donate a van to our ministry?

Posted by admin on January 17th, 2011 and filed under ministry | 3 Comments »

Our ministry is looking for a company or somebody who would like to donate a van to our ministry. The van would be used to pick-up people who are unable to drive to and from church. It also would be used to travel to minister the word at varied drug rehabs, shelters and prisons we are invited to. We take our equipment in the van and everyone who will be preaching that night.

I suggest that you have a fund raiser; post your need on Facebook; have the local radio station interview you. Sometimes people just need to know what the need is and will donate. Hope this helps.

What kind of jobs can a girl find within a Christian Ministry?

Posted by admin on January 12th, 2011 and filed under ministry | 4 Comments »

I am female and have been thinking about attending Bible college and getting a degree in either theology or youth ministry instead of attending a public university for something else. The only thing that is holding me back from following this calling is that I’m afraid that there will not be quite a wide variety of jobs I can find within the church, one reason being that I’m a girl and some churches don’t allow these positions to be filled by women. What kind of job opportunities can I expect working in a church if I go in this direction?

You may want to switch to the Methodist, Presbyterian or Episcopal denominations since they treat women equally when it comes to holding a position in the church including Pastor.

Unfortunately some denominations that you will find will prefer a man for positions like a youth minister or even a minister of music. And these ones will not even allow a woman to become a Pastor. This is true in the Baptist and Lutheran denominations.

How many times during his ministry did Jesus enter the temple and overturn tables?

Posted by admin on January 1st, 2011 and filed under ministry | 6 Comments »

In John, Jesus does this at the beginning of his ministry on his first trip to Jerusalem. In the other gospels Jesus does it at the end before he in crucified.

Did he overturn the tables twice or once?

Oh man he used to get drunk every Friday night at the pub two doors down and then in a drunken rage he’d go and turn them tables all over the place. Then he’d usually chill out and smoke a big fat blunt with his homies (apostles) Man I miss that guy!

Sorry, christians. forgive me.

Since Environment Ministry clears all controversial projects what is the purpose to create this ministry?

Posted by admin on December 15th, 2010 and filed under ministry | 8 Comments »

Our nature is in danger, by clearing all controversial projects by Environment Minister. The very purpose of saving the earth is getting defeated by central minister. PM should close Environment Ministry and close all such departments.

It is too early to comment . There is some vested interest in some decisions and lots of politics. But we should understand the laws of the land are well intended and things will settle down and people would start being ‘honest’ and true. At least 75% of the projects would be assessed properly. You and me should pin hope on the honest persons in the ministry and hope things will be ok in the future.

How do Keynesian economics relate to the Ministry of Labour?

Posted by admin on November 19th, 2010 and filed under ministry | 1 Comment »

I have such a hard time wrapping my mind around Keynesian economics/policies. Can anyone give me a short ‘for dummies’ rundown of Keynesian economics… and perhaps some suggestions to ho this would relate to the Ministry of Labour and labour policies. Thanks in advance!

A short "for dummies" rundown of Keynesian economics is not that easy, since economic theories are rather complex, but let me try and make a couple of points about what Keynes says in the general theory.

Keynes believed that the main malady of capitalism was unemployment. He believed that the main reason for this was underinvestment, not enough investment to maintain full employment. He proposed an expansionary monetary policy in order to bring interest rates down. He considered high interest rates as a significant obstacle to an adequate investment level in order to ensure full employment.

According to Keynes firms plan their investments comparing the schedule of the marginal productivity of capital(the expected added revenue that a firm expects to accrue from increased output by adding an additional unit of capital) to the interest rate, hence the need for a low interest rate in order to ensure adequate investment.

Keynes also believed that the marginal propensity to consume was too low in order to ensure sufficient demand especially as income rises. He supported redistribution of wealth in order to maintain sufficient demand in the economy.

Furthermore, Keynes introduced the notion of a liquidity trap, a situation where monetary policy is rendered useless when the interest rate is up against the zero bound. In a situation like that he proposed an expansionary fiscal policy with the government undertaking public investments in order to boost the economy.

Public investments would be the link between Keynesianism and the ministry of labour, but obviously Keynesian policies pertain to the entire government.

I’m not sure if that was what you were looking for, but it was a short and simple as i possibly could. As i said describing an entire theory in a couple of paragraphs is not an easy task. There are entire books devoted to the various economic theories.

Are ministers that go to ministry school allowed to only teach certain things?

Are ministers that go to ministry school allowed to only teach certain things in their churches?

Catholic priests are obligated to teach only things that are consistent with official Church doctrine and dogma. Some priests stray from this, but in doing so they are acting in defiance of the vows they made when they were ordained. I have not personally heard significant teaching during mass that contradicts official Church doctrine.

I have had private conversations with priests that reveal strong opinions in opposition to official Church doctrine and policy. I have not personally heard any priest teach such things publicly. Catholic priests are permitted to have personal opinions that vary from Church policy, but they may not teach such things publicly.

I am Roman Catholic.
Peace be with you.
