44 yr. old single woman, looking to get involved in a Protestant church (any denomination) in Montour, Columbia, or Northumberland Counties, PA.
Go to any reputable search engine – Google, yahoo, MSN. Enter the word "Church" and the name of the town nearest you. Repeat for other towns near you.
For each one that seems to fit (You don’t sound like you need Pentacostals or holy rollers), write to the web master. Ask how many single men ages 40 – 50 they have who attend regularly. If they answer back with a number, ("4") or a range ("20 -30"), they are honest. If not ("we count who the Holy spirit moves, not their marital status"), they are not. Ask what they do for singles, too. I’d pick the one with the biggest number, to start with. Give it a month or two.

Your going to have to visit a few Churches. It not take long to figure out. AND, ask questions; Are they involved, what programs are there, do they have regular get together as friends outside of Church. It sound to me you want to have some good friends do go eat and maybe a movie with. Some singles ministries may just be a Sunday School Class. Some are involved in doing things and being supportive of each other, you have to look. At one time I could have probably told you some Churches to check out there, but, I not go to Church anymore, long story.
