I used to listen to, hell, fall aslep to, Slayer, Megadeth, Ministry,old Metallica. I love Slipknot. What bands are out there these days to compare to that? All this alternative/emo stuff sucks. Are there still bands like that out there? Any reccomendations would be appreciated.

Slipknot is "all this alternative/emo stuff", FYI.
Mastodon, Killswitch Engage, Lamb of God, Children of Bodom, Kreator, Meshuggah, Opeth, Gojira, Arch Enemy, and Scar Symmetry all exhibit serious kickassery. (Some may be a bit TOO kickass for you if you’re not into death metal.)
Edit: Oh, and Amon Amarth too. They’re awesome. Ignore DevilDriver. They play the most boring, uninspired metal I’ve ever heard.

Hey, Slipknot are a great band. Some other bands you can check out are Alexisonfire, The Blackout, Avenged Sevenfold, Yashin, Biffy Clyro, Bloc Party, Bullet For My Valentine, As I Lay Dying, Kalmah, Machine Head, Papa Roach, Queens of the Stone Age, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Roadrunner United, System of a Down, and finally Trivium. Those are some of my favourites hope you like them.

Slayer, Metallica, Overkill, Kreator…still current! Devildriver, Children of Bodem, Tensionhead, Soldier’s of Scrape, Arch-enemy, Lamb of God, to name a few. Look up these band’s on Myspace, and you can look at their friend’s to find more modern metal band’s.
