Ministry – The Angel

Posted by admin on June 24th, 2010 and filed under ministry psalm 69 | 22 Comments »

now is an angel there?
now is an angel there?
now is an angel there?

one left out
when they passed heaven about
what about me
sitting here in my purgatory
so left out
he’s dead
i’m alive
he’s spared
always an angel who cares
always an angel there

one like me
we try so hard
five like you
someone dead again
where’s your angel now?
where’s your angel now?
where’s your morals now?
where’s your morals?

always an angel there
where’s your angel now?
always an angel who cares
always an angel there
where’s your morals?
there’s always an angel who cares
there’s always an angel there

no more people staring
no more fatal dares
like a baby grabbing at
something that isn’t there
but it is
but it is

always an angel there
always an angel who cares
always an angel there
always an angel who cares

been listening to Ministry since 88, they used to play the whole Halloween album at the club. This album has remained the favorite, good for getting stoned to. One day I walked into a store and saw two new albums- NIN-Pretty Hate Machine and Ministry- Mind… which I immediately bought. Heck I even jam With Sympathy sometimes when I want Alien J. to be a new romantic. Ha ha.

This is one of my favorite tracks off this album, I first heard it back in 1990 when I just started getting into Ministry and industrial music, I was immediately hooked. Angel is one of those songs that get stuck in your head, but you don’t mind at all.

Given a particular interpretation of the lyrics, this may well be one of the most sinister songs ever written. I love it.

@drogheda1966 I ponder this question as well. Just who gave the backing vocals? As already stated, I really liked her vocals and it made the song even more awesome.

just stumbled across ministry the other day (thanks pandora) and can’t believe I’d never heard them before. ok so i’m 20…this isn’t my generation…but it’s still pretty good music and i’d never even heard of them.

  12. EverDownward Says:

    My favorite lyric …
My favorite lyric is the combination of Al and the female backing: “We try..so hard.” Something about that female backing really gives it a serious feeling, and makes it really awesome for some reason.

I lived in Roanoke, VA in 1986. I was 27. I walked into a record store at the local mall and asked some punk-ass kid for something new…he handed me this album. I now have everything Al Jourgensen created musically.

    Favorite Ministry …
Favorite Ministry track. The poetry in the lyrics are so very moving. So very touching. EXCELLENT! Thanx for uploading. (This is the last time I’m gonna say that, though I think it REALLY hard on every one of your Ministry uploads. :D )

I remember listening to this album in ‘86 when I lived in butt-fuck Alaska, population like 16. I remember listening to this song all the time at 3:30 in the morning and it would still be light out, looking into the frozen Artic.
