    Nope in the New Age sense.

    Yes in the Christian sense.

    I.e., Prayer by itself has absolutely no power.

    However the Christian God (to whom Christians pray) has all the power in the world (and beyond it too) to answer prayer.

    Thank you for your invitation to your online prayer ministry. I might take you up on the offer.

    Cordially,
    John

    A survey recently concluded that prayer has no effect on outcomes.

    People who pray only do so because it makes them feel good. It has no other effect.

    Go placidly amid the noise and the haste,
    and remember what peace there may in silence.
    As far as possible, without surrender,
    be on good terms with all persons.
    Speak your truth quietly and clearly, and listen to others,
    even to the dull and ignorant;
    they too have their story.

    Avoid loud and aggressive persons;
    they are vexatious to the spirit.
    If you compare yourself with others,
    you may become vain or bitter,
    for always there will be
    greater and lesser persons than yourself.

    Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
    Keep interested in your own career
    however humble;
    it is a real possession in the
    changing fortunes of time.

    Exercise caution in your business affairs,
    for the world is full of trickery.
    But let this not blind you
    to what virtue there is;
    many persons strive for high ideals,
    and everywhere life is full of heroism.

    Be yourself.
    Especially do not feign affection.
    Neither be cynical about love,
    for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment,
    it is as perennial as the grass.

    Take kindly the counsel of the years,
    gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
    Nurture strength of spirit
    to shield you in sudden misfortune.
    But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
    Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

    Beyond a wholesome discipline,
    be gentle with yourself.
    You are a child of the universe
    no less than the trees and the stars;
    you have a right to be here.

    And whether or not it is clear to you,
    no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
    Therefore, be at peace with God,
    whatever you conceive Him to be.
    And whatever your labors and aspirations,
    in the noisy confusion of life,
    keep peace in your soul.
    With all its sham,
    drudgery, and broken dreams,
    it is still a beautiful world.
    Be cheerful.
    Strive to be happy.

    Yes. Without a doubt. I’ve seen my prayers answered. Most of the time in ways I never would have dreamed of.

    In addition, I read in a study once that there have been scientific studies that show that people who undergo treatment and are prayed for or over (even if they are not aware of it) do better than those who do not have prayer before their medical/surgical procedure.

    I think that if people pray or they know they are being prayed for, it can have a profound effect on their healing. The psychological effect of believing in something is very powerful and can lead to better outcomes for illness and overall health in general. That is how I believe in prayer. I do not believe that praying directly changes anything except for your mindset which then affects the area on which the prayer is being concentrated. So prayer works indirectly in my view.

    Well yes, I do believe in the power of pray. But that doesn’t really matter a whole lot because whether I believe or not God says…

    James 5:16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. :o )

    I believe that parents will do anything to help one of their children.

    If, every day, one child asks for something completely unnecessary, I have to think the parent will soon stop taking requests from that child seriously.

    In other words, i think we should mainly pray for fortitude and tolerance and acceptance of God’s will, and not World Peace.

    This is a question you should ask all those pious Christians who die horribly painful deaths from cancer each year- oh, wait, you can’t ‘cos they died in spite of their prayers. Maybe you could ask the parents of little kids that died instead.

    Yes I do believe in the power of prayer. When I was 7.5 weeks pregnant with my son the doctor said I needed to abort. He said we were watching me miscarry on the ultra-sound and that if I didn’t abort I would be putting my own life at risk. I went home instead and prayed. My son is a healthy 7 year old. When I was pregnant with my twin daughters, the doctors said I needed to abort one of them to save myself and the other twin. Once again I relied on the power of prayer. My daughters are now healthy 4 year olds.

    The prayer of a righteous man (person) availeth much. I wasfour years old when my mother was pregnant the next time. Doctor’s all told mom that she was having another girl. Every night I prayed for a brother. Mom was kind of upset with me when Jason was born. Years later I wasn’t too happy about it either, but I’ve grown up now. God knows what we need when we need it. And at five years of age I needed a brother.

    Yes!!! Prayer is the only true way to be in touch one on one with God…some people think prayer has no power and is a waste of time, but God does not always deny a prayer but he sometimes does delay the answer. I have first hand seen him answer prayers in my in-laws coming through life threatening surgeries and without the power of God they would be dead. I praise and pray to God daily!

    Absolutely!!!

    Last June on the way home from vacation I started feeling strange. By the time I got home I could barely make it up the stairs. My husband knew there was something seriously wrong and called 911. I had to be defibulated on the way to the hospital because my heart beat was way to fast.

    They finally determined that I had DVT (deep vein thrombosis) and my lungs were filled with blood clots (pulmonary embolisms). I also ended up with an 8 inch arterial blood clot in my leg. They had to remove it but it was risky because by then I was on major blood thinners for the other clots.

    I went into respitory failure on the operating table and was put on life support and into a medically induced coma. When I work up I was at another hospital and they had put a filter in my chest to catch any more blood clots before they could hit my lungs.

    After about a week (and one more hospital)they finally figured out I had endometrial cancer and the clots were caused by Trosseau Syndrom which is very rare but causes clotting in certain cancers.

    So, I nearly died on the way to the hospital, nearly died in the ER (in fact the doctor said I should thank God that I was alive and that I had dodged a major bullet!) and nearly died again on the operating table with the arterial clot.

    I had so many people all over the US praying for me and standing vigil at the hospitals. I can say without a doubt that prayer does work!!!

    By the way, after surgery, chemo and radiation I am now cancer free and again I know it is due to prayer and faith,

    God bless!

    Yes, many studies have been done lately and it has been proved that there is something to prayer that science can not explain.

    To the nonbelievers out there I challenge you to do the research. Facts are facts, in the past 6 months the AMA has released studies results that back this up.
